Bride and Groom, Porthminster Beach

Shellie & Ed

Right from the first meeting I could tell that Shellie & Ed’s wedding was going to be something a bit special. In the November I met up with them in the lounge of St Ives Harbour Hotel, to chat through the schedule for their wedding and to get a feel for their vision for their wedding the following July. They wanted it to be full of love and fun for all their guests, so had booked a close up magician to amaze everyone during the reception. They were so laid back, Shellie wasn’t worried about all the details, she just wanted everything to feel right. Though she did specify the one thing she wanted to have on her wedding day was beautiful beach photos during the soft evening light – I wrote this in BOLD letters across the top of their schedule notes and promised to speak with the weather gods. I assured them there would be plenty of time after the toasts and speeches to wander down to the beach before the first dance.

When the day came, everything had that little sparkle of excitement, there were tears of joy before, during and after the ceremony. As a surprise for the bride and groom, the brides father had booked the singing waiters, who burst into song after the main course with a fabulous 35 minute set that had everyone up dancing and singing along. By the time everyone had settled down for the desert course, things were running behind schedule and the light on the beach below was getting that warm golden glow, so Shellie and Ed decided to abandon desert and take the bridesmaids and groomsmen down for photos on the beach… as it turned out the light on Porthminster was perfect and the photos of the newly weds embracing at the end of a perfect day, are some of my favourite images.
