Choosing a Wedding Photographer to tell your story

A Good wedding photographer will feel passionately about your wedding day, they will understand that wedding photography needs to be a creative process and not a formula, they will take time to get to know you to help realise your vision. As your wedding photographer I will work with you to create a collection of images that really gets to the heart of who you are as a couple.

….of course I’m organised, fun, good with children, animals and families. I even know how to remove lipstick from a wedding dress and give a great masterclass to the groomsmen on how to put a button hole in properly.

If you interested in speaking to me about your wedding photography, please contact me for a chat or email me for more details.

Planning your Wedding

Your wedding day is the the one day you want to be absolutely perfect, with everything running like clockwork. The good news is that a lot of people with a wealth of experience are on hand to help you get the details right; venue coordinators and specialist suppliers will give you excellent advice that will make your day feel so good. When it comes to coordinating timings and making sure everything runs smoothly, your wedding photographer is often best placed to help you get this part of the planning right.

Before your wedding I will schedule in a photography consultation with you to discus the photography plan for your wedding day. During these informal sessions will go over the timings and locations and identify potential locations for the signature bride and groom images. If you want beach images, I will let you know the best times and locations and will have tide times on hand to make sure the conditions are perfect for your photographs, or you may want a photo of yourselves with sun setting through the trees, I will bring the times and sun positions with me to identify the best time and location for your wedding date. These meetings are a great chance for us to get to know each other, and are often combined with the pre-wedding photo session that is included with most of my wedding collections.

….a true artist. We can hugely recommend Mark. He captured magical memories that will last a lifetime.

My husband Olly and I chose Mark after looking at his photos. Little did we know then that he would not only take the most incredible, beautiful photos of our wedding but also be a huge support for us along the way and on our wedding day itself. From sorting out my father’s flower, calming our nerves. Mark is a professional, a wonderful person and a true artist. We can hugely recommend Mark to anyone. He captured magical memories that will last a lifetime- we are nothing but grateful.  Alex & Oli – St Ives Catholic Church & Harbour Hotel

De-stressing your wedding

The combined wedding photography consultation and pre-wedding photo sessions are usually scheduled in in the months prior to the wedding day. I think of them as ‘De-stress your wedding’ sessions, as I often hear from couples that they feel more relaxed about their wedding after this fun get together. After chatting about your vision for your wedding and finding out a bit about each other, we head out to make some photos of you both. These are really informal zero-stress sessions, which lets you see how I will work on the wedding day and gives me an idea of how you are together infant of a camera, which really helps us get the best images when the wedding day comes around.

His photos are amazing. It was a pleasure to have him there to share our special day!

Mark visited our wedding venue months in advance where my husband was building the structure we were to be married under. He spent the day with us, taking photos and getting to know us.… I had been very nervous at the thought of having someone around taking photos of me, but he instantly put me at ease. On the day he worked incredibly hard, as our venue was boat only access he had lots of ground to cover, but he really was fantastic. All the family commented on how lovely he was which meant so much to us. His photos are amazing. It was a pleasure to have him there to share our special day! Martha & Sam, Sawmills Studio, Cornwall

Wedding photography made with love

In a world of Instagram and Facebook, it’s useful to know what goes into creating images that need to look great when shared on social media and also stand up to the demands of high quality printing. I take a fine art approach to making a collection of wedding photographs to ensure couples get images they will love for years to come. Having originally made photographs with film, I place a high value on capturing well exposed and colour balanced images in camera; so professional weather sealed cameras and lenses, built to perform to a consistent standard of image quality are a must, especially for weddings where the highest quality is expected when printing photography books or large format wall prints.

….meticulous attention to detail throughout the production process, ensures the quality of the final images are consistent and have that wow factor

A full day wedding requires several days of post production to create the completed collection of images. Once the files have been backed up – including a cloud based backup for added security, your images are prepared for editing before each one is individually refined to ensure it looks as good as possible for the different ways it will be viewed.

Each image has the exposure and colour balance checked and any dust or other imperfections that may be present get removed. This takes place prior to final colour grading, to ensure each image has the right look before being exported and uploaded your private gallery. This meticulous attention to detail throughout the production process, ensures the quality of the final images are consistent and have that wow factor. Making photographs that have visual and emotional impact, takes a combination of creative vision, technical expertise and a generous sprinkling of love.

Quite simply, Mark is a true master of his craft, and when you are celebrating the most important day of your life, you want somebody there you can rely on to capture every moment of it. Mark is that person!

Mark photographed our engagement a few years ago, and we knew we wanted him to also photograph our wedding after such an enjoyable time with him first-time round. Mark was brilliant throughout, from his email and phone communications to our pre-wedding meeting to go over the details of the day. Mark’s photos speak for themselves – the quality is incredible, and his timeless style means they will continue to look as great years into the future as they did on the day they were taken.
